Bedlam Rivalry

The battle for the Big 12 South title is starting to become a Sooner State affair.

Both 6th ranked Oklahoma and 20th ranked Oklahoma State are separating themselves from the rest of the pack. And both are doing it with ease heading into Bedlam next month.

The Sooners just keep rolling along, lighting up the scoreboard in their 52-0 win over Iowa State in Norman. DeMarco Murray ran for 112 yards and 2 TD’s, including his 58th career TD as a Sooner. Landry Jones threw for 334 yards and 3 TD’s as OU had 672 yards in total offense. The blowout runs their record to 6-0 and 2-0 in the Big 12.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys go into Lubbock and dominate Texas Tech, which is not an easy thing to do. The 34-17 win was their first there since 1944. Justin Blackmon had 207 yards receiving and 1 TD, while Kendall Hunter had 130 yards on the ground with a TD. Brandon Weeden threw for 356 yards and the TD to Blackmon. OSU also moves their record to 6-0 and 2-0 in Big 12 play.

There is still plenty of football left to be played before Bedlam on November 27th. The schedule doesn’t get any easier from here on out in the Big 12. However, neither OU and OSU appear to be slowing down, setting up a showdown that could mean so much more than just state bragging rights.
