Jason Terry - Game One

Plenty has been made over the Game 1 loss for the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Finals. In order for them to bounce back against the Miami Heat, they will need Jason Terry to find his outside shot again.

One of the keys to the Mavs run through the playoffs is the shooting of Terry. In Game 4 of the Los Angeles Lakers series, Jet tied an NBA record with nine three-pointers and finished with 32 points. His hot streak continued into the Western Conference Finals, where he hit a total of nine from behind the arc against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Sometimes it’s not how many he hits, it’s when he hits them, as the Thunder can contest to.Jason Terry Drive

But in Game 1 against the Heat, Jet was only 3-of-7 from three-point land, and 3-of-10 overall. Part of the reason could be the fact that he’s being guarded by LeBron James. LeBron helped hold Jet scoreless in the second half of Game 1. Needless to say, in order to get Jet off the ground, you may see more pick and rolls at the top of the key.

Terry is one of the holdovers from the 2006 team that lost to the Heat in the NBA Finals. He says he will do whatever he needs to do to get this team to the promise land. If that means facing LeBron, so be it. Jet is up for the challenge and will do whatever it takes to win.

The Mavs were able to hang with the Heat on their home court in Game 1 despite the shooting struggles. If Jet gets going, Game 2 can be a whole different story.
