You could say Alexi Ogando isn’t much of a fan of Yankee Stadium. It’s turning out to be a house of horrors for the young righty.
Ogando wasn’t able to get out of the 2nd inning as the New York Yankees roughed him up again, giving up 6 runs in that inning as the Bronx Bombers cruised to the 12-4 win over the Texas Rangers. It was Ogando’s first loss of the season .
It’s not that Ogando was off his game, it just seemed the Yankees had his number. He got just five outs in the shortest outing of his first season as a starter; he had not gone less than six innings in any of his 12 previous starts. In all fairness, the Yankees line-up, especially Curtis Granderson, has been hitting the ball well of late.
The first time around back in April, Ogando gave up three home runs in New York in the Rangers’ 6-5 loss. Since then, Ogando has been almost untouchable, until Tuesday night. It was the same way before that start in April. He has allowed 11 runs in eight innings against the Yankees and 14 runs in 75 innings against everyone else.
There’s no need to panic just yet since Ogando is 7-1 on the mound this season. But at some point he will run into the Yankees again, possibly in the playoffs. It will be crucial, if that’s the case, for him to figure this Yankees line-up out.
