Baseball America Releases Top 10 Rangers Prospects for 2016

The future is looking bright for the Texas Rangers as Baseball America recently released their top 10 prospects list for each team in the A.L. West.

No surprise at the top of the class. Joey Gallo is arguably the top prospect in all of baseball. Gallo showed some promise during a couple of stints with the Rangers last season, but more than likely will start this season in Triple-A Round Rock. While scouts marvel at Gallo’s power, he does need to work more on his contact rate, which was evident against major league pitching. MLB Pipeline has Gallo ranked as their top third base prospect.

The Rangers are also high on OF Nomar Mazara. Mazara, a big international signing in 2011, looked like a big league hitter last season in Frisco. After making some adjustment with his swing, he was able to cut down his strikeout rate without losing any of his natural power. Mazara is on the fast track for a September call-up in 2016.
