TCU just took one step closer to making a return trip to the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.
Starter Brian Howard pitched a gem, retiring the final 17 hitters he faced as the Frogs beat Arizona State 8-1 in the NCAA Fort Worth Regional championship game. TCU swept the regional for the fourth time in program history. They now move on to their third straight NCAA Super Regional.
Regional MVP Cam Warner had three RBI in the win, including a two-run homer in the eighth inning. He finished the regional 5-for-16 with six RBI and has now hit safely in five straight games.
The story of the game was Howard, who tossed eight innings of one-run baseball while striking out nine, tying a career high. Howard did not issue any walks. Brian Trieglaff tossed a scoreless ninth to shut the door and seal the win.
TCU will now face former Frog Boomer White and Texas A&M in the Super Regional at College Station next weekend as the Road to Omaha rolls on.
