Cowboys Thoughts From Harris And Hennings

Harris JDRF Golf

With minicamp in full swing this week, I recently asked former Dallas Cowboys safety Cliff Harris and defensive tackle Chad Hennings about this year’s team going into the season during the JDRF Reunion Golf Classic, an event to help raise money in the fight against diabetes.

“I’m like everybody else, (Tony) Romo has to stay healthy,” said Harris, a two-time Super Bowl champion with the Cowboys during the 1970’s. “I know we’ve got a great new running back and an offensive line that’s going to be excellent. We’ve just got to have a quarterback that’s going to do two things: stay healthy for us and win.”

“I’m always optimistic,” added Hennings, who won three Super Bowls with the Cowboys in the 1990’s. “Just get through the preseason healthy, keep everybody on the field, get guys into camp and get everybody signed up contract-wise. It’s not make-or-break in the fall; it’s make-or-break right now during the offseason.”

This week’s minicamp will run until Thursday. It will be the last one at Valley Ranch as the Cowboys will make the move to The Star in Frisco in August after returning from training camp in Oxnard, California.
