Another Profar Impacting Rangers Organization

Rangers Profar

There’s no doubt about the impact Jurickson Profar made in his return to the Texas Rangers lineup last month. But would you believe there’s another Profar currently making an impact in the Rangers minor league system?

There hasn’t been a lot of good news coming out of Adelanto, California lately when talking about the High Desert Mavericks, the Rangers Advanced Class-A team in the California League. There are issues between Adelanto and the Rangers organization due to the city’s financial difficulties. However, the Mavericks play on and Juremi Profar is making a name for himself.

The 20-year old infielder is currently on a seven-game hitting streak, hitting .462 with 11 RBI during that span, raising his average from .261 to .288 in the process. In 53 games this season, Profar has five home runs and 26 RBI in 191 at-bats this season.

The younger Profar signed with the Rangers as a 16-year old in 2012, three years after older brother Jurickson. Juremi is considered a third baseman, but played first base in Thursday’s 6-4 loss to Stockton, going 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI.

So could there be a Profar tandem in the future in Arlington? We’ll see. It’s still too early to tell and there’s a logjam at the hot corner throughout the Rangers minor league system. Plus, Adrian Beltre has it covered in the big leagues for a couple of more years. All this could explain why Juremi is seeing time at first.

As for High Desert, they remain in first place in their division with a 42-25 record this season.
