Not exactly the way FC Dallas wanted to start the current road trip.
Real Salt Lake broke a scoreless tie in the 78th minute for the 1-0 win Saturday night at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah. The loss snaps FC Dallas’ four-game unbeaten streak.
FC Dallas had a chance to set the tempo early in the back-and-forth match. Maxi Urruti found himself all alone with the goalkeeper in the 21st minute, but sent the shot just over the cross bar. The match was scoreless at the half, with FC Dallas continuing to miss scoring opportunities in the second half.
Then in the 78th minute, Chris Seitz made a beauty of a save, but Jamison Olave was in the right place at the right time, finding the back of the net for his second goal of the year. FC Dallas couldn’t get anything going after that.
FC Dallas now travels to Nicaragua to play their second CONCACAF Champions League match against Real Estili FC on Wednesday. Afterwards, they move on to rival Houston for a match with the Dynamo on Saturday.
FC Dallas, top team in the Western Conference, also owns the best record in MLS with a 13-7-6 record. They have 45 points, two points better than second-place Colorado and five points better than third-place Real Salt Lake.
